The National Park Service offers a special Castillo by Candlelight Tour, "Sharks in the Moat," on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 7:30, 7:45, 8:00, and 8:15 p.m.
This evening program gives guests a chance to learn about the most popular stories, myths, and legends in the long history of the Castillo de San Marcos.
About the Castillo: The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. It is a large Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain’s claims in the New World. It’s a National Monument and, at over 315 years old, it’s the oldest structure in the entire city. Visitors will find plenty to explore, from the numerous rooms that once housed soldiers and prisoners of every era to the large interior courtyard and gun deck which offers a great view of the city.
Admission: Space is limited, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for children ages 5 to 15, and free for children under 5. Tickets may be reserved in advance, starting two weeks prior to the event, at the Castillo de San Marcos ticket booth or by phone at (904) 829-6506 ext. 239.
